Voter ID Status
Track your EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) application on the Election Commission's Voters' Service Portal, step by step.
Official tracking portal. Voter ID status can only be checked on the Election Commission of India's portal:
How to check your Voter ID status
- Find your reference number. When you submitted Form 6 (new enrolment), Form 8 (correction/transfer) or applied via the Voter Helpline app, you received a reference number by SMS and email.
- Open the portal. Go to voters.eci.gov.in and click "Track Application Status". Signing in with your mobile number may be required.
- Enter reference number and state. Both are required; the same number works in the Voter Helpline mobile app too.
- Read your status. You will see one of the stages explained below.
What each status means
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Submitted | Your form has been received and is queued for verification. |
| BLO appointed | A Booth Level Officer has been assigned to verify your details, usually with a home visit. |
| Field verified | The BLO has completed verification and sent a report to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). |
| Accepted | Your name is added to the electoral roll. Your EPIC number is generated and the card is printed and posted. |
| Rejected | The ERO found an issue (duplicate entry, address mismatch, ineligibility). The reason is listed; you can re-apply with corrections. |
Typical timelines
New enrolments are generally processed within 3–4 weeks, though they can take longer during election season when rolls are frozen. Once accepted, you can immediately download the digital e-EPIC PDF from the portal — the physical card follows by post within a few weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download my Voter ID online?
Yes. Once your application is accepted, download the e-EPIC PDF from voters.eci.gov.in or the Voter Helpline app. It is valid ID proof, same as the physical card.
I lost my reference number. How do I track?
Log in to the Voters' Service Portal with the same mobile number you used to apply — your submitted forms and their statuses appear in your account dashboard.
How do I check if my name is already on the electoral roll?
Use the "Search in Electoral Roll" option on the portal — you can search by EPIC number, or by name, age and district.
