What is an IFSC code?

The Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an 11-character code assigned by the Reserve Bank of India to every bank branch that participates in NEFT, RTGS and IMPS. The first four letters identify the bank (e.g. SBIN for State Bank of India), the fifth character is always 0 (reserved), and the last six characters identify the specific branch.

Always verify the IFSC before adding a beneficiary — a wrong code can delay or misroute a transfer. This tool queries the free, open-source Razorpay IFSC API, which is kept in sync with the RBI's official branch directory, and shows you the branch address, city, state, MICR code and which payment systems (NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI) the branch supports.
